Investment Lesson

What type of tree you wish to plant?

I have seen multiple investors who wish a very rapid investment return from innovation. This  is simply not possible as innovation needs acceptance and then it grows.

So what really happened was all who stopped thinking of innovation, invested in copy-cat models and some got huge returns, many failed and then the investors cribbed that the startup ecosystem is not conductive enough.

What happened to the fruits (startups)

They were never ripe fruits in first place, it was like selling a half ripe fruit like GRAPE to someone and obviously you will have bitter taste. you failed to realize GRAPE VINE itself takes 2 years for yielding fruits.  Analyze the costs yourselves and Investors will realize themselves where we are failing.  We should not invest in startups but invest in STOCK if you want things to happen too soon.

That GRAPE vine will yield minimum 30 years, if maintained properly.

What happened to the individuals who invested maybe in something like a MANGO tree (UNICORNS)

They had that patience for minimum 8 years, to collectively grow it, without any greed to exit and results are there for everyone.

lovely reasons to love life

the fruits, flowers, nature all makes life so exciting

the early morning sunrise and the evening sunset makes us realize that each day can be a new beginning to think afresh and each evening can be an opportunity to close any aspect of life which hurts us.

so do not give up hope as anyone else can pick that hope and move ahead in life enjoying life as it is.

Manufacturing business

Altaf is a manufacturing magnate. Many a time folks wonder how he can succeed in making this magic happen..

Altaf has his friends in China..  one of his closest friend Xero has a knack of identifying low cost manufacturers..

Altaf ‘Xero.. need to bring in un-manned vehicle at the earliest’

Xero ‘wow.. but still we have not got the blue print.. once available we can begin production’

Altaf ‘how I wish we all learn from you guys.. our market is screwed up’

Xero ‘one of the problem.. is low cost labor’

Altaf ‘name all type of taxes.. we have.. nothing left over’

Xero ‘Altaf why did you stop your manufacturing business out there’

Altaf ‘No charm left.. labor issue.. tax issues.. all issues and then can we really survive and compete with you.. Absolutely no’

Xero ‘we have different type of challenges and you have different.. I think we should have youngsters from age 16 be groomed and they may be may be low cost labor?’

Altaf ‘good point.. skill based training from 16.. cool idea’

Altaf ‘ok got to go.. will close my Skype session.. have to guide my other friend to also close his manufacturing business’

after session ends

Altaf ‘strange world we are in.. core engineering forgotten.. ecommerce.. commodity selling, fruits and vegetables, cab aggregation and what not.. for that an individual completes 21 years of education, competes and wins.. joins reputed colleges.. even blocks seats of genuine individuals wishing to be only in engineering discipline and then guess what…  even after they make huge money.. catch anyone investing in engineering manufacturing companies.. Anyways.. why to think too much..  am already on my way to get invested in a shoe portal venture.. An ace gold medal winner in University.. Polymer expert.. and now.. a shoe seller. I know many of traditional business men will be unhappy with all these revolutions.. but what to do.. am I left with any choices?’

Monkey Secret

Monkey ‘do you know why I imitate?’

elephant extends its trunk up

Monkey tries to put its leg up and falls down

Monkey again gets up and jumps over to tree and dangles its legs..

elephant pushes the tree

monkey jumps over other tree and begins pushing the branches

mangoes fall down

elephant and monkey both begin eating mangoes

Monkey ‘I imitate because it always gives fruits if I imitate it rightly and in case I fail because of imitation, I hurt less.. but you are innovative.. you showed me the way.. hence I need to salute you..  I only imitate but you innovate.. you told me a secret…  that as am not as big as you, I have no other choice but to imitate and learn from you and also taught me I should not imitate directly but adapt to my local circumstance to be successful’

Dangling fruits

Samuel had great fascination to climb trees and collect fruits from basket.  He would always wish to first catch the top most fruit and then go backwards down.

One day his friend Romesh asked him a question

‘Why top to bottom? why not bottom to top?’

Samuel ‘if i collect the fruits from bottom. the weight will increase.. but if I collect it from top, as I reach down, the weight of my basket will increase. I will be able to climb down better way’

Romesh ‘but you can fill basket and move it down, carry another basket up.. chances of you to fall too exist’

Samuel smiled

Samuel ‘In engagement relation, top to bottom works better and then bottom to top’

Romesh ‘why?’

Samuel ‘because the bottom individual believes in top boss. they follow what their boss agree to do’

Samuel ‘fruits which dangle low are tempting but if we carry too many fruits, our maintenance cost increases..

same way in business.. rather then 50 small clients, 1 big client may make wonders.. and all small prospective clients become our client automatically. these mango orchard is our heritage for over 50 years.. climbing tree is my hobby’

Romesh ‘anything else?’

Samuel ‘climbing right tree is effectiveness and climbing and getting down from tree in proper timeline is efficiency’
